General Coaching Information

All coaches in Powell River Gymnastics are certified through the National Coaching Certification Program. They must complete the Level I technical course which is specific to each sport. In order to coach competitive gymnastics and to attend a competition, coaches must have a minimum of Level II technical certification. Each level carries a practical training of 50 hours for Level I and 100 hours for Level II.

Coaches-in-training will assist certified coaches with birthday parties, parent viewing nights and displays. The minimum age for certification is 15 years old. If you are interested in working with children and have basic knowledge about gymnastics which you would like to expand upon, please contact the Executive Director.

The gymnastics club is always looking to expand their coaching staff and eagerly encourages enquiries about the certification program and employment aspects. Always in a shortage are coaches to conduct our birthday parties and parent and tot classes. If you are interested in coaching, please contact the Executive Director. Related experience and/or education or certification will be considered.

In addition to gymnastics certification, at any time in the gym, at least one coach present must have first aide certification. We adhere to a very high safety standard for your children through certification, instruction, and coach to participant ratios.
